Bangkok tuner shop electrifies Civic EG

About 9 minutes and 33 seconds for the vehicle introduction

The modification shop "ECU=SHOP" in Bangkok, Thailand uploaded the modification video of Honda Civic EG on YouTube.

In the video, the appearance of Civic EG has been modified in various ways, the most noteworthy of which is the "electric modification" that changes the power to the output of the motor. Equipped with three 60kW motors, the maximum output can reach 250HP, the maximum torque is about 60kgf・m, and the power performance is excellent. The weight of the vehicle is 1,150kg, which is not much different from that before the modification.

This car does not reproduce the transmission system in a simulated way like Toyota "MANUAL BEV", but is equipped with a straight-toothed 5-speed gearbox. The driving sound is linked with the motor speed instead of the engine sound and transmitted into the car, making it as if it is equipped with an engine.

Although the high-speed sound of the B-series engine is very pleasant, this electric modified version of Civic EG also won the evaluation of "the same as the original Civic EG".

Electrification modification of classic cars gradually rising

In addition to the Civic EG that appeared in this film, there are more and more cases of electrification of sports cars that were manufactured before 2000 and are called classic cars.

Automakers such as Toyota also often do their own renovations. In Japan, in addition to Toyota exhibiting the "AE86 BEV Concept" that changed the AE86 "Sprinter Trueno" to a battery electric vehicle at the Tokyo Modified Motor Show 2023, Nissan has also started the "Skyline GT-R" R32 EV transformation plan.

Although the price is not cheap, there are manufacturers that provide EV conversion services for ordinary consumers. This is another way to restore classic cars that are difficult to obtain repair parts.

The feeling brought by the engine at that time was also the charm of classic cars. If this feature is abandoned, it may cause polarized reactions. If EV tuning technology can make up for this charm and bring more fun, then it has the potential to be widely used as a tuning method.
