●Escudo (called Vitara in Taiwan) is back on sale in Japan
●Newly adopted Strong Hybrid
●The design is almost unchanged
●The interior has evolved into a hybrid specification of oil and electricity
●New generation Escudo price
Suzuki announced on April 21, 2022, that the small SUV "Escudo" (called Vitara in Taiwan) will be equipped with a hybrid system and will be sold on the same day.
Escudo stopped production without warning in September 2021, and was finally resurrected in Japan after half a year. Basically, there is not much change, except for the minor specification changes on the hybrid system.
After the re-sale, the Escudo (called Vitara in Taiwan) has a new strong hybrid that was not available before.
The hybrid system equipped with Escudo (called Vitara in Taiwan) increases the EV running time and speed range through the voltage, lithium battery capacity, maximum motor power, and torque of the hybrid system.
In addition to the WLTC mode, which can achieve a fuel consumption rate of 19.6km/L, it is also the first vehicle in Suzuki history to use a brake recharge system that recharges the battery with energy generated during braking and EV driving when reversing.
In terms of power system, it is changed from a 1.4L turbo to a 1.5L hybrid system.
It is the first car in China to use the K15C Dualjet engine (left in the picture) and 6AGS gearbox (in the picture). In addition, it is equipped with a high-output motor (pictured right) that increases output and torque.
These systems work together with Escudo's superior four-wheel control system "ALLGRIP" to achieve both high operability and low fuel consumption.
The exterior design of the new-generation Escudo (called Vitara in Taiwan) is almost the same as the one sold in September last year. The changes are LED headlights and aluminum wheel frame spoke design.
There are 6 body colors to choose from
Added fuel-electric hybrid-related symbols on the built-in multi-function display screen.
There are only major changes in the oil-electric hybrid, and the only other changes are that the gear lever becomes matte.
Basically not much different from the styles sold last year.
The new-generation Escudo (called Vitara in Taiwan) is only available in 4WD and costs 2.97 million yen including tax. And the car is a "safe driving assistance vehicle S BASIC+", "emergency brake assist system (AEBS2) certified vehicle", "wrong pedal sudden acceleration suppression device (PNPD) certified vehicle".
The sales target number is set at 1,200 units per year (100 units per month).
