Actually, there is still something missing in that lengthy name, because we are not talking about the Mercedes-AMG GT here, but about the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door. The counterpart of the Porsche Panamera can be ordered as AMG GT 43 (367 hp) and as AMG GT 53 (435 hp). Both have a twin-turbo six-cylinder on board. Previously, the AMG GT 4-Door was also available as a 63 S (with a 639 hp twin-turbo V8), but that version is being replaced by the new AMG GT 63 SE Performance.
The latter has the same 4.0-liter eight-cylinder, but linked to a plug-in hybrid system. The AMG GT 63 SE Performance has an electric motor on the rear axle, which supplements the 639 hp and 900 Nm of the V8 with 204 hp and 320 Nm. The combined power and torque of the powertrain amounts to 843 hp and 1010 to 1470 Nm of torque. This allows the 2-ton super sedan to reach 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds. Its top speed is 316 km/h.
Linked to the electric motor is a tiny 6.1 kWh battery. You can hardly speak of an electric range; After a maximum of 12 kilometers on the electric motor alone, the AMG GT 63 SE Performance has to switch on its petrol power source. Charging is done with a 3.7 kW AC charger. The charging port sits quite pontifically like a boil on the ass of the 4-Door.
