Our spy photographer came across a prototype at Germany's Nürburgring. The car shares its widebody body with the upcoming Corvette Z06, but does not have its four tailpipes in the center of the rear bumper. The Z06 will debut this month and will be joined by this new hybrid Corvette from next year.
Little is known about the powertrain of the Corvette E-Ray. It is rumored to have the 6.2-litre V8 from the Corvette Stingray, complemented by a single electric motor on the front axle. In terms of power, the E-Ray is said to be above the Stingray (500 hp) and the Z06 (600 hp), with up to 650 hp of available power.
And it doesn't stop there. Chevrolet will probably come with an even stronger hybrid Corvette, which also has an electric motor on the rear axle. There are even plans to come up with an electric Corvette. Although that will be the next generation, the Corvette C9.
