Weizler, Jan. 13, 2022. The new Leica M11 camera combines classic rangefinder technology with modern camera technology to provide every photographer with the ultimate flexible photographic experience. The Leica M11 camera features a unique three-variable-resolution sensor, a wider ISO sensitivity range, two storage methods, long battery life and a simple and intuitive menu system that redefines the paradigm of digital photography and makes it The most flexible M-system camera ever.
At the heart of the new Leica M11 camera is a full-frame back-illuminated CMOS sensor with three variable resolution technologies. Users can choose to record images in DNG and JPEG formats at three different resolutions of 60, 36, or 18 megapixels, all in full-frame quality. The high 60-megapixel resolution will deliver unprecedented detail reproduction and image quality, fully unlocking the optical potential of Leica's latest M-System APO lenses; using lower resolutions allows the camera to process faster and extend the duration of continuous shooting speeds , the file size is smaller.
The Leica M11 camera is equipped with a special IR+UV filter, which consists of two layers of extremely thin glass filters glued together, which can effectively correct oblique incident light. Thanks to the new color filter matrix, the color reproduction of the camera is more excellent and natural.
The Leica M11 camera inherits the iconic look of the classic Leica M camera and is ergonomically optimized for operational efficiency. The control panel is distributed around the new 2.3-megapixel high-resolution touchscreen in a unique layout. The M11 unifies the user interface, which is consistent with the function table structure of the Leica SL2 and Q2, for a better user experience.
The Leica M11 camera has an ISO sensitivity range of 64-50000, can record a color bit depth of 14 bits, and has a dynamic range of up to 15 stops. Thanks to the Maestro III processor, the Leica M11 camera is smooth and responsive even when shooting at the highest resolution and image quality. When shooting with the electronic shutter, the shutter speed is as high as 1/16000 second, and photographers can still shoot with full aperture in bright environment without ND filter. For the first time, the M11 implements multiple metering modes in the rangefinder, making it easier for photographers to manipulate light.
The Leica M11 Black Edition features a high-quality aluminum top cover with a special anti-scratch coating, and is approximately 20% lighter (100 grams) than the Silver Edition. The M11 Silver Edition, on the other hand, has a classic brass top cover and weighs 640 grams.
Another unique feature of the M11 camera is that the traditional bottom cover design is deliberately cancelled, making it easier to replace the battery and SD card. In addition to being able to insert an SD card, the Leica M11 camera is also equipped with a large 64GB of built-in memory, making the M11 the first M-system camera to save images on two different storage media at the same time. The M11 camera is equipped with a 1800mAh battery, which is 64% higher than before. Combined with more efficient operation, a single charge will significantly improve the battery life. In addition, users can also use a USB-C charger to charge the camera battery through the new universal USB-C interface.
In the second half of 2022, the Leica M11 camera will be upgraded with a firmware update. The new connectivity feature will enhance the user experience on mobile devices, further enhancing the functionality of the Leica FOTOS app, including recording the geographic location of photos, viewing images via a Bluetooth connection, and increasing transfer rates. In addition, the Leica M11 camera is an Apple-certified MFi ("Made for iPhone and iPad")-marked device, which can be used with exclusive functions via the supplied Leica Leica FOTOS cable.
With the evolution of the Leica M System camera, Leica has developed new accessories to enhance the rangefinder photography experience. The new Visoflex 2 electronic viewfinder with 3.7 megapixel resolution provides excellent image control in live view mode. The Visoflex 2 has a metal housing that is perfectly compatible with the M11 in design and function. With a diopter adjustment range of -4 to +3, and a 90-degree tilt function, the Visoflex 2 supports the full-frame viewing angle and precise focus of Leica lenses. Photographers can choose the newly designed handle to use with the M11 camera to experience a stronger ergonomic design without affecting the replacement of batteries and SD cards. The new handle can also be used as a tripod interface, allowing the Leica M11 to be mounted on an Arca-Swiss-standard tripod without any additional equipment.
Leica M11: witness the future
Stefan Daniel, Vice President of Technology and Operations at Leica, said: “We are very proud of the new Leica M11, which will be another milestone for Leica cameras. The Leica M11 inherits the iconic design of the Leica M camera. But its interior innovation is unprecedented."
Dr. Andreas Kaufmann, Chairman of Leica's Global Supervisory Board, said: "As we all know, Leica's legendary M-System has been with photographers around the world for decades, not only assisting them Works, but also witness their era. The new Leica M11 will continue to write the legend since 1925 with outstanding technical innovation.
