Dacia likes to do things differently. Many car manufacturers change an edge and a fold to their existing logo and call the logo revolutionary and new. But not Dacia. The existing logo resembles a bottle opener with the brand name in it, but is actually a shield. The new logo in no way resembles that anymore.
As you can see, the new decal is shaped like a tuning fork or wrench. According to Dacia, it is a D and C that are connected to each other. Does that have to do with DC fast charging of an electric car? No, Dacia didn't make that connection.
The logo exudes robustness and stability, according to Dacia. "The shape of the letters has been deliberately refined [dat je niet denkt dat dat per ongeluk is gebeurd en dat Dacia eigenlijk een niet verfijnd logo wilde - red.]. The D and the C are mirror images of each other. They reflect the focus on the essential and the smart approach of the brand."
But we are not there yet. The purple Romanian pants have put a lot more PR gossip on paper. "The decal captures the essence of the logo by bringing the D and C together, like links of a chain that are linked together. The new decal is a powerful and meaningful image that is easy to recognize."
And when you think we're done with that, you'll come home from a rough patch (although that would be nice in this summer heat). "The graphic design has been deliberately reduced to remind you that Dacia is a brand that focuses on the essentials. Each individual part blends with the other parts to form a cohesive whole."
Dacia continues: "Like the brand they represent, the graphic design elements are robust and flexible. For example: the arrow-like D in the logo leads the eye to the essential core of the design and refers to the sense of movement that is created by a future-oriented brand."
And in case you wonder why the Dacia logo is no longer blue, but a kind of brown-grey-green: Dacia wants to refer to its bond with nature. We could read that as: khaki is the sickly color of a tree that is withered by the harmful emissions of a car. But then we don't.
Well, what else do you not need to know about the new Dacia logo? That it "symbolizes the need for freedom, recharging your own battery and getting back to basics. These fundamental needs are felt by many, they force us to focus on what really matters." So on everything other than a new logo...
