Next-generation Civic e:HEV goes on sale in Japan

On June 30, 2022, Honda released the Civic gasoline-electric hybrid specification "e:HEV" launched last year in Japan. It will go on sale in Japan on July 1, 2022, and the monthly sales target is expected to be 300 units.

Exclusive design differentiated from gasoline vehicles

The exterior of the body adopts an exclusive design that is different from that of gasoline vehicles. For example, the front air intake grille and the surrounding trim strips of the door glass are presented with glossy black paint, and the door mirrors are also designed in black.

The cockpit design is also differentiated from gasoline vehicles. The biggest difference from gasoline cars is in the center console.

Gasoline cars have gear levers, and e:HEV has become a push-button gear shifter that is also used on new station wagons.

e:HEV dedicated 10.2-inch digital instrument panel, in order to present the speed change in a more concise way, a new power meter is added. Power (acceleration) is indicated by a pointer, and the percentage scale is set to make it as easy to read as a tachometer. The charge (deceleration) is presented as a bar. When the deceleration adjustment is performed, the color will change, and the position of the deceleration adjustment will be displayed at the same time, which is convenient to control the currently selected deceleration state.

There is an optional "INDIVIDUAL" mode in the driving mode for different road conditions. The e:HEV is the first Honda in Japan to be equipped with this mode, which can set the power system, steering and instrumentation separately.

Newly developed engine and hybrid system

The Civic e:HEV is equipped with a newly developed 2.0L direct-injection engine. Compared with the 2.0L engine of the previous e:HEV, the torque has been improved and the driving distance of the engine mode has been increased. It also improves fuel consumption performance, exhaust gas cleaning function, and quietness.

In addition to reducing the weight and high output of the hybrid unit, it also increases the power of the battery pack, giving the car strong drive and acceleration.

Standard Honda SENSING

"Honda SENSING", an advanced system for safe driving support, is standard.

It also uses a "front wide-angle camera" that detects objects with high precision in a wide range and a "front and rear sonar sensor" that can detect non-metallic objects such as glass and walls.
