The quality of the (reversing) cameras in many car brands is so poor that you get the feeling you are watching a Practical Jokes broadcast from 1992. Tesla eases driver frustrations with a simple software update.
First some technical explanation. Tesla has come up with internal names for the computers and sensors in its electric cars. Every Tesla has technology on board that allows the car to drive independently. The first hardware from 2014 was called HW1, and the brand has been happily increasing numbers ever since. The latest Teslas now have HardWare 4.
Many Dutch Teslas are still driving around with HW3 technology, which was introduced in 2019. It then had a new function: owners were shown visualizations on the large screen of traffic lights, traffic cones, waste containers and arrows on the road.

Tesla Model Y, 3, S or Only Teslas with activated hardware, which allows the car to drive independently via the Autopilot function, are eligible for this update. And for the Autopilot function you pay 7,500 euros in the Netherlands. Which, according to European rules, you are not even allowed to drive without hands. But at least you have a clear image when parking...
