There is no discussion about the qualities of the Hyundai Ioniq 5. Together with the Kia EV6 - which is based on the same electric platform - the Ioniq 5 is currently teaching EV science to the car industry. If you've read the comparison test in Auto Review issue 11, you know that the Hyundai Ioniq 5 easily trumps even much more expensive competitors like the Audi Q4 E-Tron and BMW iX3.
For the private buyer considering the purchase of an electric car, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 removes many traditional objections. The car does have a decent and very usable range, of at least 385 kilometers. Charging the battery does not take as long as the formation of a new cabinet.
However, one objection remains with the Hyundai Ioniq 5: if you buy the car as a private person, you have to pay at least 43,500 euros. And that is of course a lot of money. For that amount you get an Ioniq 5 in the Style version, with a 58 kWh battery, an engine power of 170 hp and the drive on the rear wheels.
Hyundai has also managed to keep the price of the Connect version below the magical limit of 50,000 euros. Only when you purchase a car that is cheaper than 50,000 euros, you are eligible for a purchase subsidy on electric cars for private buyers. This subsidy amounts to 3350 euros. This also applies if you opt for a private lease and conclude a contract of at least 48 months. The 3350 euros will then be deposited into your account in monthly portions. In 60 months that will save 55.83 euros per month, in 48 months that is 69.79 euros.
Compared to the Style, the Connect features a premium Bose audio system, electrically adjustable seats with heating, a few additional driver assistance and safety systems, a sliding center console and Vehicle to Load, allowing the Ioniq 5 to be used as a power source for other electric vehicles. devices. The Connect version costs 47,500 euros. Even with the optional heat pump (1200 euros), the car remains well below the limit of 50,000 euros.
Do you not find the extra luxury of the Connect version important, but is a larger range and more engine power important to you? That hits: the Ioniq 5 Style with 73 kWh battery and an engine power of 217 hp is in the price list for 46,500 euros. In this version, you can go 480 kilometers on a full battery. And again the following applies: with the heat pump (always do it!) the price remains below 50 mille.
It is easy to imagine that you would really like to buy a Hyundai Ioniq 5, but that you do not just have 43,500 euros in an old sock in the attic. Perhaps private lease is an interesting alternative to still be able to drive a new Ioniq 5: you pay a fixed amount every month, and you no longer have to worry about matters such as insurance and maintenance. These amounts are included in the monthly amount. The electricity you need to drive is of course at your own expense.
Two factors are important in determining the monthly private lease amount: the price of the car and the number of kilometers you cover on an annual basis. The Hyundai Ioniq 5 is now part of the program of many private lease providers, so that you can look for the provider with the most favorable conditions - at the most favorable price. The Ioniq 5 is of course also included in the private lease program of Hyundai itself.
It is going too far to give an overview here of the rates of all private lease providers. To give a good indication of what you have to pay monthly for the private lease of a Hyundai Ioniq 5, we use the rates charged by the Hyundai dealer organization.
Suppose you choose the cheapest Ioniq 5, in the Style version with a 58 kWh battery. You don't expect to drive more than 10,000 kilometers on an annual basis, and you don't feel the need to change cars again in the next five years (60 months). We leave out options such as a heat pump and Vehicle to Load, and the standard color Mystic Olive will complement your joie de vivre for you. Then you pay the starting price for private lease every month: 569 euros (including VAT).
If you prefer to drive the Ioniq 5 in a different color and you like to be warm in the winter without immediately compromising the range, then two additional costs will be added to the bill: 15 euros respectively for a different paint and 20 euros for the heat pump. Total amount: 604 euros per month.
If the kilometer limit of 10,000 km is nevertheless insufficient, you will not immediately be dismissed as a private lease fraudster. The difference will be charged at the end of the year. You pay 0.11 euros for every kilometer that you have driven more than 10,000 kilometers, and you get 0.02 euros back for every kilometer that you stay under the agreed mileage.
If you choose to take 15,000 kilometers as a maximum when concluding your private lease contract, an additional cost of 33.15 euros will be charged on the basic rate of 569 euros per month. Total amount: 602.15 euros. It is possible to determine the annual mileage at a maximum of 30,000 kilometres.
If you opt for a lease contract of 60 months for a period of 48 months, an additional cost of 60 euros (629 euros) will be charged on the base price of 569 euros. For a private lease, 36 months is the minimum. You can put together your ideal Ioniq 5 via the private lease configurator on the Hyundai website, and you can immediately see what your monthly rate will be. The private lease contract can be concluded online.
Just add the calculator: over a private lease period of 60 months at 569 euros, you pay a total of 34,140 euros to be able to drive 50,000 kilometers. Price per kilometer: 68.28 cents. This is exclusive of power/charging costs. The purchase subsidy of 3350 euros is also not included in this price. And the price of a home charger at 1,899 euros has also been disregarded.
If you would buy the Hyundai Ioniq 5 Style 58 kWh, you would pay 43,500 euros. Assuming an indicative residual value of 15,000 euros after 5 years and 50,000 kilometers, the car will cost you 475 euros per month. However, the fixed costs such as insurance and maintenance still have to be paid, let's assume 50 euros per month for all-risk insurance and 30 euros per month for service and tires. Total amount: 555 euros per month, or 33,300 euros over 5 years. The price per kilometer is then 66.6 cents. Again: this excludes the costs of power/charging, the purchase of a home charger and purchase subsidy. Additional costs to finance the purchase amount are also not included in the calculation.
Conclusion: private lease of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 is hardly more expensive than buying it, and therefore a very attractive alternative for private motorists who can appreciate the qualities of the Korean EV.
