Is the Bentley Flying Spur Hybrid cheaper than the Bentley Bentayga? If only we knew!

1. What is the consumption of the Bentley Flying Spur Hybrid?

Unfortunately we don't know yet! We only know that it will get a 2.9-litre V6 petrol engine, which is coupled to an electric motor. Together they provide a power of 544 hp and a torque of 750 Nm. And the hundred sprint? It takes 4.3 seconds, while the top speed is 285 km/h. The power of the electric motor is 134 hp and without the help of the V6 it is good for 400 Nm of torque.

2. Is this the first Bentley plug-in hybrid?

No, the Bentley Bentayga (suv) is already available with a plug. This car weighs over 2600 kilos and has slightly less power: 449 hp and a torque of 700 Nm. The 17.3 kWh battery of the Bentayga Hybrid is larger than that of the Flying Spur Hybrid (14.1 kWh).

3. What is the range of the Bentley Flying Spur Hybrid?

The total range is more than 700 kilometers, Bentley promises. But how many electric kilometers you can make, they are still about that in Crewe quiet as a graveyard. They do say that charging the battery takes 2.5 hours – a good time for an extensive high tea, perhaps with a very careful bottom of single malt Scotch whiskey…. If we make a guess, we expect an electric range of 50 kilometers. Just like the Bentayga.

4. Would you like to take a guess about consumption?

forward. We look at what the Bentley Bentayga Hybrid officially consumes in fuel: 3.4 l/100 km (1 to 29.4). Because the Flying Spur is a bit more streamlined and probably a bit less heavy, the consumption could be a fraction more favorable. 1 in 30 is therefore feasible.

5. How do you recognize the Flying Spur Hybrid in the wild?

Life can be so organized: with a 'Hybrid' decal on the front screen. But also four oval exhaust pipes and a cover on the left rear panel behind which the charging point is hidden. Inside you'll find a switch that allows you to switch between the three driving modes: EV Drive (pure electric), Hybrid Mode (the car switches between petrol and electric itself) and Hold Mode (the car saves power). The car always starts in EV Drive mode.

6. What is the price of the Bentley Flying Spur Hybrid?

If only we knew that. Bentley only says that the Flying Spur with plug can already be ordered this summer and that the car is being built in hometown Crewe. It will be delivered at the end of 2021. Due to lower CO2 emissions, it will in any case be cheaper than the current Flying Spurs: they cost 262,123 euros (4.0 V8) and 298,653 euros (6.0 W12).
