Shall we start with the useful or the fun first? Let's have fun ... Because the Volvo models with Recharge T6 and Recharge T8 powertrain now have a stronger electric motor on the rear axle. The extra power ensures that the T6 no longer produces 340 hp, but 350 hp. In fact, the T8 will be the most powerful Volvo ever, with a total power that jumps from 390 hp to 455 hp.
Then the useful. The electric range of the Volvo S60/V60, XC60, S90/V90 and XC90 Recharge increases to around 70 to 90 kilometers, depending on the model. Previously this was about 50 kilometers. Volvo has increased the battery's capacity to 18.8 kWh (from 11.6 kWh) by adding an extra layer of cells. According to Volvo, the average commuter drives between 30 and 70 kilometers to work, so that distance could easily be covered electrically in a Recharge model.
Furthermore, Volvo adds one-pedal driving to the Volvo XC60, S90 and V90 Recharge. That means the car brakes (thus recovers energy) and comes to a stop when you take your foot off the gas. In addition, the CO2 emissions of the T8 petrol engine have decreased slightly, which means that the XC60 and XC90 T8 models end up below 20 grams per kilometer. The Volvo S60 and V60 Recharge will be 200 euros more expensive due to the adjustments. The price remains the same for the other Recharge models.
