Never stuck in traffic again after corona? Then we have to do these 7 things

Twenty-six mobility organizations work together in the Mobility Alliance, including ANWB, Bovag, RAI Association, NS and Transport and Logistics Netherlands. The partnership has recently announced that it wants to introduce road pricing as soon as possible and is now presenting a signpost that should enable the Netherlands to get out of the corona crisis without traffic jams. Because if we don't do anything, we'll all be stuck again.

The Mobility Alliance signpost is divided into seven steps:

1. Avoid unnecessary kilometers during rush hour

By consciously considering what time is needed and which means of transport is appropriate for the distance, smooth and pleasant traffic goes hand in hand with a cleaner and more liveable country.

2. Spread opening hours

By varying and spreading opening hours of schools and other institutions, we immediately ensure less pressure on the infrastructure and more travel comfort. In this way we can also use the infrastructure better and smarter in the long term.

3. Spreading working hours

With flexible working hours and where possible the facilitation and organization of working from home, we spread the transport on the road and in public transport. This is how we put an end to the hyper rush.

4. Provide insight into the hustle and bustle on the road

By providing better access to information about congestion on the road and in public transport, we help travelers avoid large crowds.

5. Be welcome in public transport

Public transport is no longer just for necessary travelers. Be welcome, but try to avoid crowds.

6. Organize goods flows even smarter

With the accelerated realization of freight hubs and a smart interpretation of the 'last mile'of delivery, we facilitate the further growing flow of goods in a smart and clean way.

7. We continue to cycle and walk a lot

During the corona crisis we started walking and cycling more. Let's maintain this 'active mobility' at this level, link it up even better with other means of transport and see how it can be even safer.
