It is no surprise that there will be a new Fiat Panda. But the fact that the new Fiat Panda will be more expensive than ever takes some getting used to. And yet you make fun of everyone, if not almost everyone.
Anyone who is older will probably remember the advertising slogan of the first generation Fiat Panda. "With a Panda you make fun of everyone," was the slogan Fiat in the 80s wanted to emphasize how smart the Panda was. He was economical, could take a lot of luggage with him and whoever knocked down the seats had a double bed and didn't have to sleep on the living room couch if there was an argument with his partner.
What also made fun of other motorists was the purchase price. You could have one for about 10,000 guilders, the equivalent of about 5,000 euros. However, the new Fiat Panda will be a lot more expensive and probably the most expensive Panda ever, namely just under 25,000 euros. Fiat CEO Olivier François said this insideevs.comwithout even mentioning the word 'Panda'.
Still, the higher purchase price is good news. The Panda becomes electric and then 25,000 euros suddenly becomes a lot more attractive. The words used by Fiat's CEO are 'an affordable electric Fiat that must compete in Europe with Renault and cheap electric cars from China'. By Renault the CEO is referring to the Dacia Spring and the new one Renault 5.
More good news is that it will be an electric car without any fuss, promises François. Because no matter how cool digital exterior mirrors, vegan leather and mood lighting with a choice of 5 million colors are, you're not really looking forward to it.
François further says that the car is inspired by the Fiat Centoventi unveiled in 2019, which in turn has features from the Fiat Panda. We dare to bet that the car will be called Panda. This makes it the successor to the current Fiat Panda, which has been in production for more than 10 years.
Olivier François also said it is 'very likely' that Fiat's affordable electric car will share its platform with the new Citroën ë-C3. After all, both brands are part of the large Stellantis group. The Citroën also promises to have a price of less than 25,000 euros. The range is an acceptable 300 kilometers.

Finally, Fiat's CEO has said that Fiat's new affordable electric car will be presented in July 2024. During the unveiling of the Fiat 600e we heard the exact date, namely Thursday, July 11, 2024. On that day, Fiat will have existed for exactly 125 years.
For the time being, however, we will have to make do with the 'old' Fiat Panda. With a private lease you can have the Italian hatchback for a fixed monthly amount. Check out our comparator for the best Fiat Panda private lease deal.
