Porsche's first cross-border NFT, the auction amount is donated to non-profit organizations
Stuttgart. The design sketches exclusively drawn by Porsche design director Peter Varga were auctioned and sold at the price of 30.25 ETH on the American digital art auction platform SuperRare in the form of NFT (Non-fungible tokens) last year, which is equivalent to about 90,000 Dollar. The most special of these is that collectors can get both digital and physical works, and Porsche donates all proceeds to the non-profit organization Viva con Agua. Porsche's first NFT project was completed with the support of subsidiary Porsche Digital (Porsche Digital) and used the blockchain technology of the start-up company Fanzone.
“With this NFT initiative, we want to observe the acceptance of the cryptocurrency community and its impact,” said Sandra Mayer-Denzel, who is in charge of the initiative. "We are very pleased with the end result and delighted that we were able to bring in a substantial donation to Viva con Agua."
Lars Krämer, Innovation Manager at Porsche Sales and co-sponsor of the programme, added: "We have brought the idea of auctioning NFTs to reality in a very short period of time by an inter-organisational team, very Porsche style. We are proud of the result. , and look forward to learning from it, and looking forward to Porsche’s further innovation in the field of NFT and digital art in the future.”
"It is very important for Porsche to host this auction, and we are delighted to receive the amount of donation from this work," said Carolin Stüdemann, president of the non-profit organization Viva con Agua. "All the proceeds from this auction will be used to improve water sources, which can improve the living conditions of thousands of people. Because water is life!" The full name of NFT is a non-fungible token, which is derived from blockchain technology and belongs to Specific assets, that is to say, NFTs represent the ownership of a special digital asset. And digital goods can be stored, sold or traded in virtual wallets. So far, NFTs have mainly been used in areas such as encrypted artwork and digital collections.
Trading Digital Player Card Blockchain Platform
This project was completed by Porsche and Fanzone. Forward31, a division of Porsche Digital, has funded Berlin start-up Fanzone in June 2021. The startup operates an online NFT platform that collects and trades digital player cards. Fanzone uses blockchain technology to ensure the information and security of player cards.
Founded in Hamburg, Germany in 2006, Viva con Agua is dedicated to helping people access clean drinking water around the world, making sanitation and hygiene within easy reach, and has supported water projects in Uganda and South Africa. The non-profit organization's vision is "Water for all – all for water". Viva con Agua regularly raises funds through art auctions.
