●Skyline gasoline car is also going to stop production?
●It uses different engines from gasoline-electric hybrid vehicles…
●There may be some changes to the regulations
The Nissan Skyline gasoline-electric hybrid model announced in May that it would stop taking orders. Although gasoline vehicles will continue to be sold, they will only be sold on existing stocks.
The reason why the petrol-electric hybrid model stopped taking orders was that its engine "VQ35HR" could not meet the noise standards that became more stringent this fall. Therefore, the "Cima" and "Fuga" that use the same engine are also expected to stop production this summer.
Unlike the gasoline-electric hybrid vehicle, the gasoline vehicle engine uses the same 3.0LV6 twin-turbo engine "VR30DDTT" as the new generation Fairlady Z.
After the production of gasoline-electric hybrid vehicles was discontinued, the product lineup was changed to the following four specification grades, all of which were gasoline vehicles.
In particular, the highest specification grade "400R" has a higher engine output than other specifications, and the car exceeds 400 horsepower as its name suggests. Even if the price of the car exceeds 5 million yen, one out of every four cars is a 400R in the initial order, which is quite popular.
This time, all specifications will be discontinued.
At present, it is only mentioned that the existing model will be discontinued, but it does not mean that the Skyline will definitely disappear.
Nissan Vice President Asako Hoshino said at the "Note AURA" online press conference held in May last year: "Nissan will never give up the Skyline."
Judging from this speech, it is difficult to imagine Nissan will abolish the Skyline, and it is more reasonable to think about some improvements or minor changes in the future in response to noise specifications.
The current V37 Skyline was launched in 2013. In 2019, major changes such as appearance changes and the adoption of "ProPILOT 2.0" advanced technology were made.
Also looking forward to the implementation of major changes or major changes
Having said that, the V37 Skyline is about to enter its 10th year since its launch, and it is not surprising to implement a major facelift.
There is no information about the next-generation Skyline yet, and it may also break the frame of the previous sedan and enter the market again in the form of a crossover like the new Toyota Crown released in July this year.
There is another possibility that the Fairlady Z will be adopted without changes, and the implementation of large and small changes that can be called substantial changes. If there is information about the next-generation model in the future, I will let you know.
