Red Bull Racing delivers another good news! Red Bull Racing Dutch driver Max Verstappen defended his title in advance in the 2023 Formula One Qatar Grand Prix Sprint (Sprint) in the early morning of the 8th, Taiwan time, and won the first three consecutive F1 world championship titles. Won the 14th victory of the season in Qatar.
Max Verstappen said after the game: "This is my best year yet! I strive to be better in every weekend race I participate in, which is why I think this year's results are definitely the best yet." In fact, in Cardiff Before the race, Verstappen had won 13 times in 16 grands prix and led his opponents in 10 consecutive races. For Verstappen, he only needs three points in the sprint to win his third world championship; his only strong rival before the race was Red Bull Racing teammate Sergio Pérez, who was second in points. Unfortunately, Sergio Pérez's performance in Qatar failed to finish third or better than Verstappen, and he crossed the line in 10th place at the end of the sprint race, which did not change the ranking results of this season.
The main race after the sprint race is nothing more than a rigorous competition for all participating drivers. Although the competition started after dark, the local environment with temperatures as high as 30 degrees Celsius and no wind made it a test of physical fitness with high temperature and humidity. Not only that, the track at the Losail International Circuit in Qatar is famous for its high and sustained centrifugal force, which is another challenge in the event. However, the new world champion Max Verstappen started from the pole position and maintained the lead all the way to the finish line with full fighting spirit. Verstappen set the fastest lap of the race on the penultimate lap, and finally beat McLaren's Oscar Piastri by 4.833 seconds, reaching the top and winning the 14th championship of the season; third place in this race was McLaren's British team Driver Lando Norris.
Verstappen, who just turned 26 at the end of September, became one of only five drivers in the history of F1 to win three consecutive championships. The other drivers are Juan Manuel Fangio (1954-55-56), Michael Schumacher (2000-01-02), Sebastian Vettel (2010-11-12) and Lewis Hamilton (2017-18-19). In addition, the results of the sprint race in the early morning of the 8th Taiwan time put Verstappen and car god Michael Schumacher "neck and neck", tying Schumacher's record of winning the F1 championship 6 races earlier in 2002.
Verstappen's defending glory brings even more joy to the Red Bull Racing Team, which won the constructors' championship this season! The Red Bull Racing Team has won 16 of the 17 races so far this season in 2023, and won the driver and team double championship for the sixth time. In two weeks, F1 will move to Austin, Texas, to host the U.S. Grand Prix from October 21 to 23, Taiwan time. We look forward to the continued success of Verstappen and the Red Bull Racing Team, who have won three consecutive championships.
