Subaru All New Forester

●The appearance is obviously different from the old model. The overall appearance is calm but slightly old-fashioned.

●The interior decoration is replaced with an 11.6-inch vertical central control screen, which obviously lacks a sense of technology.

●The chassis architecture continues the SGP modular platform, and North American power maintains the 2.5L NA engine.

●All models are equipped with the new generation EyeSight driving assistance system as standard, with more functional systems

As the Tokyo Auto Show has just come to an end, the most famous Los Angeles Auto Show (or North American Auto Show) in the United States has taken over, and Subaru is also exhibiting its latest facelifted Forester at the exhibition.

The appearance of the new sixth-generation Forester has changed significantly. If the Liu Pleiades factory emblem is covered, at first glance, it looks like Ford's previous Explorer, paired with the side lines of the URX. In short, no matter how you look at it, On the contrary, it lacks a lot of Subaru's own flavor. On the front of the car, the Forester abandoned the signature C-shaped daytime running lights and replaced it with a slender design close to that of the RAV 4. At the same time, the original factory also specially cut the headlights located below and used two light housings to create a similar shape. The concept of separate headlights is actually somewhat unclear. As for the water tank guard part, at first glance it maintains Subaru's consistent hexagonal design, but upon closer inspection, you can find that the center of the water tank guard is deliberately extended toward the headlights on both sides, lengthening the width of the front of the car and shaping a wider shape. For a broad visual appearance. On the other hand, the designer intentionally reduced the area of the black scratch-resistant material on the front bumper, making the entire Forester look more delicate than the previous rugged one.

The changes in appearance are quite significant. The front of the car has changed the shape of the old model, including the water tank guard, headlight group, and sheet metal lines, which are more in line with Toyota's design.
Slender daytime running lights replace the original C-shaped design, and the headlights have an active steering function.

In addition to the significant changes to the front of the car, the new Forester also changed the previous rounded curves in the sheet metal lines to more rigid and straight lines, making the vehicle more visually enlarged. However, the overall body size There was only a slight increase. The length, width and height of the sixth-generation Forester are 4656 x 1829 x 1730mm, and the wheelbase remains the same as the previous generation at 2670mm. Another more obvious change is in the tail window and waistline. The new Forester abandons the upward folding design of the old model and changes it to a gentler trend. It enlarges the area of the lower half of the tail window and matches it with a black trim strip. , and gives the Symmetrical AWD symmetrical four-wheel drive nameplate on the top, creating the illusion of a suspended roof, which is also one of the main reasons why this car looks larger.

The D-pillar uses a black trim strip with a symmetrical four-wheel drive nameplate to create the shape of a suspended roof.

At the rear of the car, changes to the Forester are also concentrated on the light group. The previous C-shaped taillights are no longer seen, replaced with a more complex lamp housing style. The taillights themselves are reduced in size, but there is an extra silver trim panel, and the A black decorative strip is added to the center of the two taillights to create an effect similar to a through-type taillight. As for the tailgate itself, the redesigned Forester continues the original square and large-size design, making it more convenient to place items. This advantage is still retained.

The changes at the rear of the car mainly focus on the design of the taillights and D-pillars, which makes the car grid more visually enlarged.

Not enough new ideas

Moving to the interior of the car, the interior of the sixth-generation Forester is as everyone expected, with a cockpit layout similar to that of the new WRX and XV. The most eye-catching one is the oversized Starlink 11.6-inch vertical central touch screen, which is Judging from the pictures and original factory information, the functions have not been specially updated. It can also support wireless Carplay and Android auto connections. At the same time, the system control of the entire vehicle can also be set using the central control screen. The integration is quite high, but I hope the touch response can be improved by then.

Although the cabin is equipped with the latest 11.6-inch central control screen, the technological experience is still not comparable to competing products.

In addition to the central control system, the Forester's instrument panel still maintains the existing traditional double-ring pointers, coupled with the central information display screen, the convenience of reading is naturally not a problem, but look at other competing products, even smaller products , have already used full-digital or half-digital versions, Forester seems a bit lacking in sincerity, or lack of novelty. The layout of the central saddle is the same, basically maintaining the existing structure. In front of the traditional gear lever is a Qi wireless charging pad, and behind are two cup holders. The functionality is not bad, but it is also stale.

As for the interior space, the size of the new Forester has not grown much, and it was not specifically mentioned in the original press release. I believe it will not be the focus of this facelift. However, judging from the photos released so far, the rear seat space is still very spacious, and the thickness of the seat foam is also quite good, which should provide the same comfortable riding experience. The seat backs adopt a 6/4 split tilting design. The overall luggage compartment space is quite flat, and there are rear seat quick tilting buttons and hooks for use. According to the luggage compartment volume given by the original manufacturer, it is 29.6 cubic meters under standard conditions, which is approximately 838 liters after conversion, but the measurement standard is to measure to the top edge of the luggage compartment.

The interior space is not particularly emphasized, but the design of the rear seats is the same as that of the previous generation, so the comfort should be the same.
The luggage compartment space is still as square as ever, and the flatness is also very good.

Match for ten thousand years

As mentioned before, the revised Forester chassis has not been changed and still uses SGP modular configuration. However, the rigidity has been improved. Subalu has used more advanced welding technology and increased the use of adhesives. , so the rigidity is increased by 10% compared with the old model. As for the power system, it can only be confirmed that the North American region will be equipped with a 2.5-liter horizontally opposed naturally aspirated engine, paired with a simulated eight-speed CVT gearbox, and Subaru's most signature symmetrical four-wheel drive system, with 180 horsepower/ With a maximum output of 26.4 kilograms, it can only be said that the violence and performance are still not comparable to the current generation Forester.

The power system uses a 2.5 NA boxer engine with a maximum output of 180 horsepower and 26.4 kilograms.

In terms of driving assistance systems, all Forester models will be equipped with the latest version of the EyeSight system. In addition to the full-speed ACC and lane centering functions, the actuation speed becomes faster and the actuation process is smoother. At the same time, this time there is also a new DriverFocus driving attention monitoring system, a braking assist system that can detect intersections (including pedestrians and bicycles), and a new lane safety system that combines blind spot detection, lane departure assist, and emergency steering assist. When the vehicle speed is lower than 80km/h, it can prevent the vehicle from colliding with neighboring vehicles when it deviates from the lane.
