If you drive through the Netherlands, you will see that the Tesla Model Y is popular. But September's sales figures really prove how great the sales success of Tesla's electric SUV is.
Last month, 29,885 new passenger cars were registered in the Netherlands. That is an increase of 16.6 percent compared to September 2022. Tesla is the big winner, with 1872 cars sold - an increase of 190 percent. That's all thanks to the Tesla Model Y.
The Model Y is responsible for 1791 of the 1872 registrations at Tesla. The remaining 81 registrations are divided equally between the Model 3, Model S and Model X.
Most car brands can only dream of such high numbers. If you lump all BMWs sold into one lump, you arrive at 1769 cars. Last month, Audi dealers managed to hand over 'only' 1,154 car keys to new customers. At Mercedes, the counter stood at 1,244 cars at the end of the month.

BMW may have lost to Tesla, but it still had a good month. The German luxury brand is in the top 5 of most registered car brands in September 2023:
Only Kia, Volkswagen and Toyota could make a stand against Tesla. Although none of their models sold better than the Model Y, they still registered more cars overall. In the Top 5 models you can see that Kia is mainly doing good business with the Niro and the Picanto. The Polo is popular at Volkswagen, but so are the ID.4 and the Tiguan. Toyota's blockbusters are the Aygo X, Corolla and Yaris (Cross).
