Anyone who follows the electric news from Stellantis can dream of the specifications of the facelifted Peugeot E-2008 with a larger battery pack and more powerful electric motor. But they are simply reality.
The current Peugeot 2008 grew in four years to become one of the best-selling small SUVs in Europe. In 2021 - when we all fumbled around for a face mask in the glove compartment - it was even number 1. This is not only due to its appearance, which was liked by many people. The range of petrol engines and an electric version also contributed to the popularity.
We test all Stellantis cars with the new electric powertrain. Don't miss one!
Of the approximately 700,000 2008 models built, 75,000 are electric. Peugeot hopes to continue the success with a facelift. Both the appearance and the technology have been addressed. Peugeot has done a lot of work at the front. The grille features the modern brand logo and the light claw from the old model has been given two stripes. The vertical light claws are now positioned slightly lower below the headlights. The red light stripes in the rear lights have disappeared after four years of use.
Nowadays, a facelift is not complete without large multimedia screens. Every electric 2008 gets the large 10-inch model. The marketers also needed something to do, so the small e of e-2008 was replaced by a large E.
You can probably dream of the technical news, because many Stellantis models preceded the Peugeot E-2008. Still, it is an important change. The electric motor gained 20 hp and the battery became slightly larger (from 50 to 54 kWh), increasing the range from 345 to 406 kilometers. So that's twice the profit, and in practice the differences are noticeable.
Especially if you press the right pedal a little deeper, you will notice the difference between 136 and 156 hp. It all seems to go a little smoother, although the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h is unchanged. As usual, the E-2008 completes this in 9 seconds. This equates to a decent consumption of 15.4 kWh/100 km.
We have always been positive about the suspension comfort, as well as the low noise level. The new E-2008 is also more of a sniper than a roaring lion. The chassis is not tuned too firmly, imperfections are processed without the body moving.
The comfortable seats are also suitable for long stages. Whether the i-Cockpit makes you happy is a matter of taste. Some swear by it, others claim that they never find a good seating position and therefore do not have a good view of the instruments above the small steering wheel.

A richly equipped (and therefore expensive) First Edition of the electric Peugeot will first appear, costing 44,950 euros. That's a good thing, because then you can just turn to the government for a SEPP purchase subsidy. Versions around 40,000 euros will follow later.
A slightly larger battery pack and slightly more power make the Peugeot E-2008 slightly nicer than its predecessor. The facelift itself has also been a success and the large screen next to the steering wheel is an asset. The typical French comfort rounds off our positive impression.
