What is a Porsche 911 GT3 Touring? Well, simply put, the model is just a 911 GT3, but without the rear wing. The first Touring was introduced in 2017. It is based on the 991 generation of the 911 and was marketed as a more luxurious alternative to the 911 GT3. So no wing, but a manual gearbox and an interior with leather upholstery.
Porsche describes the new 911 GT3 Touring as "a pure top athlete in a discreet outfit". Instead of the large rear spoiler of the GT3, it has an automatically extending wing, which - just like with the 'regular' 911 Carrera models - provides the necessary downforce at high speed.
Other differences can be found in the window frames (which are made of high-gloss aluminum), on the nose (which is completely painted in the color of the body) and at the rear, where there is now another cooling grille above the engine, with the GT3 on it. Touring logo. In the interior of the Porsche 911 GT3 Touring, the large amount of leather stands out.
Incidentally, all options for the 911 GT3 are also available on the 911 GT3 Touring. Think of the exterior colors, alloy wheels, carbon ceramic brakes, a lift system on the front axle, carbon fiber bucket seats, and so on. A new feature is that the Touring can also be ordered with a PDK automatic transmission. Previously, only a manual gearbox was available.
The Porsche 911 GT3 Touring has the same engine as the GT3: a high-revving, naturally aspirated six-cylinder boxer engine with 510 hp and 470 Nm. The version with manual transmission goes to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds. The PDK shifts even faster and eats no less than 0.5 seconds of that time.
For the price-conscious Dutchman: if you opt for a Porsche 911 GT3 Touring, you are a lot 'cheaper' than if you check a 911 GT3 on the order list. The latter is available from 239,200 euros (the version with manual gearbox and PDK are just as expensive). You can drive the GT3 Touring from 238,800 euros. Did you save 400 euros again?
