And that's important, because during a race you can't just stand somewhere and charge for half an hour. So the Porsche Mission R is equipped with a 900 Volt system (the Porsche Taycan has 'only' 800 Volt), which allows fast charging up to 340 kW. According to Porsche, the 80 kWh battery of the Mission R is 80 percent full after just 15 minutes.
The Mission R is a foretaste of an electric race car for customer teams. A kind of Porsche 911 GT3 Cup, but with a plug. It is powered by two electric motors, which deliver up to 1088 horsepower in qualifying trim. This allows the Mission R to reach a top speed of more than 300 km/h. The sprint to 100 km/h is already over after 2.5 seconds.
In its race mode, the Porsche Mission R offers a constant output of 680 hp. There is no loss of power due to the battery becoming hot, according to Porsche. On the track, the electric racing car must be able to drive comparable lap times to the current Porsche 911 GT3 Cup.
The Porsche Mission R is equipped with Porsche Active Aerodynamics with three louvers in each of the two air intakes on the nose and an adjustable, two-piece rear wing. Both front and rear it has DRS (Drag Reduction System), a system familiar from Formula 1 that temporarily reduces air resistance.

With a length of 4.3 meters, the Mission R is slightly shorter than the Porsche 718 Cayman. However, it is a lot wider (2.0 meters) and lower (1.2 meters). Its body is largely made of plastic reinforced with natural fibres. Porsche has used the same material for the front splitter, the diffuser, the side skirts and parts of the interior.
