The new Skoda Kodiaq and Superb will be available at dealers in 2024, but there are also modest facelifts for three other models. And we finally know what the electric Skoda Elroq will look like.
2024 will be a busy year for that Skoda: no fewer than three new models are planned. The new Kodiaq and Superb can already be admired in the showroom and on the road. The electric Elroq will be unveiled in 2024, but will not be in the showroom until 2025. There is also a lot of facelifting going on in the Czech Republic; the Skoda Octavia, Kamiq and Scala will have a slightly changed appearance.
We always have to think about Skoda's SUV models: the Skoda Karoqis the middle one. Its electric successor is called Skoda Elroq and the 4.5 meter long SUV is almost ready. The Elroq therefore has the honor of being the first new electric Skoda on the calendar. The name Skoda Elroq is an inimitable piece of marketing talk: 'el' stands for electric, and 'roq' is another reference to the Karoq. We expect the curtain to come down at the end of 204.

We already drove a prototype of the new Skoda Kodiaq in the summer of 2023, but it will finally come onto the market in the spring of 2024. While every new Chinese SUV is always and only an EV, the Skoda Kodiaq is not. The versions that will come to the Netherlands in the spring of 2024 will be electrified (mild hybrid and plug-in hybrid).
The new plug-in hybrid powertrain is only available for the 5-seater SUV. This probably has to do with the available space under the trunk: either a third row of seats or a battery pack fits there. And not both. The Kodiaq PHEV has an electric range of 100 kilometers and with a charging station next to the front door, you drive on electricity so often that you rarely refuel. The 27.5-kWh battery can charge at 11 kW and fast charge at 50 kW.
The 7-seater Skoda Kodiaq is always powered by a 1.5 TSI with mild hybrid technology. This is a four-cylinder turbo petrol engine linked to an automatic DSG transmission.
If you are 6 feet tall or taller, it is common to feel claustrophobic in the back of a car. The Skoda Superb has avoided such inconveniences since his debut in 2002. Skoda takes long slouches into account like no other brand.
In the new Superb, everything in the rear remains the same. You can still slump on the furniture like a bored teenager. The large wheelbase of 2.84 meters is the same as in the old model. Thanks to the extra length of 4 centimeters, the luggage space did grow; the hatchback can store 645 liters (+20 l) and the Combi 690 liters (+30 l).
As with the Kodiaq, the biggest news in the engine field is the plug-in hybrid (PHEV), with an electric range of 100 kilometers. The Superb already had a PHEV version, but with that you could reach a maximum of 55 electric kilometers. The old one did provide slightly more power; 218 instead of 204 hp. In the new one you can fast charge with 50 kW. The Superb will also be available with the 1.5 TSI mild hybrid and will come to the Netherlands in the spring of 2024.
Of Skoda Octavia will receive a facelift in 2024. The multimedia screen is placed higher and contains more functions. More important is the return of the plug-in hybrid Octavia Combi (204 hp), but this is still the model from before the facelift. 2024 is the last year in which plug-in hybrids in the Netherlands benefit from tax benefits, Skoda is probably trying to make a profit there.
And then there is the facelift of the Skoda Scala and Kamiq, where the changes are barely noticeable. As befits a good facelift, both the front and the rear have been changed with new stylized headlights and taillights. LED lighting with hexagonal matrix modules is optional. Looks fancy and also provides more light output. With the Kamiq it is noticeable that an extra reflector has been placed under the rear lights. Furthermore, the bumpers have been redesigned.
The news that will make you most happy is that the digital instruments and the 8.25-inch central infotainment display are now standard. That is a big improvement compared to the small basic screen in the first Scala. An even larger 9.2-inch display remains optional.
Just like their predecessors, the newcomers are 'simply clever', as Skoda calls it. An example is the umbrella in the front door. The 'virtual pedal' is new. This is a cryptic description for a sensor under the rear of the car that automatically opens the tailgate.
The new Skoda Scala and Skoda Kamiq will be available at dealers in February 2024. Unfortunately, no prices or further specifications are known yet.
We look a little further ahead, to 2025 and 2026. Then the electric successor to the Skoda Fabia is planned. It will be unveiled in 2025 and will be in the showroom in 2026. The name is not yet known, Skoda calls it 'Small'. The Small is the counterpart of the Volkswagen ID.2 and will therefore cost less than 25,000 euros.
The final version of the Skoda Vision 7S is also expected in 2026. Also look carefully at the design of the Vision 7S, because that is the design direction that Skoda has taken. For example, the prominent Skoda grille has changed into an economical-looking mouth that all new Skoda EVs seem to have.
