Electric cars and caravans usually don't go well together. Many EVs are not allowed to tow a small caravan or not at all. Moreover, with a rut hut on the hook, the range decreases dramatically. With the Pebble Flow caravan you don't have that problem.
The Pebble Flow is a groundbreaking caravan in many ways. Not only is it extremely streamlined, it also has 1000 W of solar panels and its own battery pack on board. And not a small one either: with a capacity of 45 kWh, this caravan is on par with the entry-level version of the Volkswagen ID.3!

Does such a large battery seem like a lot to keep the refrigerator and air conditioning running? That's right, it also ensures that you stay together with the solar panel for a week off grid (without power connection) you can camp. You can also charge external equipment, such as an electric mountain bike.
But the battery is primarily there for the caravan's two (!) own electric motors. While driving, they support the tow vehicle, relieving the burden on the battery pack. And of course the aerodynamic, height-adjustable drawbar box and the smooth structure also contribute to increasing the range.
If the battery pack of the car and the caravan are on their last legs after a long journey, you can connect them both to the DC fast charger, because the Pebble Flow is also suitable for that.
If you know that the Pebble Flow was developed by former employees of Apple, Tesla and Volvo, it will not surprise you that the caravan has even more groundbreaking features.
Who regularly watches the TV series We are almost thereIf you look at it, know that without a mover for your caravan you no longer count at the campsite. The Pebble Flow goes one step further. It not only maneuvers itself into the tightest spot of the campsite with its own electric motor, but can also independently connect itself to the car's tow bar.

Disconnecting is also fully automated. Even the nose wheel is retracted and lowered without manual intervention from the caravanner. The same applies to the support legs and the step at the entrance.
Naturally, the makers of the Pebble Flow caravan have also given extra thought to the layout. At the front it has a spacious round seat and on the right flank there is a large kitchen unit. On the left there is a complete bathroom and a large double bed in the back. Nothing special so far. If it weren't for the fact that you can also fold up that large bed completely. Then you conjure up a worksheet so that you can write down your travel experiences in the middle of the jungle or make a bow and arrow.
So far it's been one big good news show, but we also have less cheerful information about the Pebble Flow caravan. It may have a chassis made of aluminum profiles, but including drawbar it is also 7.60 meters long. Including battery pack, electric motors and solar panels, it weighs 2,880 kilos. Unfortunately, we know of few electric cars with so much towing capacity. The Ford F-150 Lightning (4500 kg) is the only one as far as we know. The BMW iX (2500 kg) in Tesla Model X (2250 kg) come close.
It should come as no surprise that such a piece of innovation on wheels is not cheap. Count on about 120,000 euros. This includes the drive, battery and automatic coupling function, called 'Magic Pack' by the manufacturer. The Canadian company behind Pebble Flow expects the caravan to go into production in 2024. It remains to be seen whether he will also come to Europe.
