The new Toyota C-HR can now be ordered. And that means that the prices and versions of the Toyota C-HR are known. Feel free to take a seat, because you can choose from 16 (!) options. And there is more that strikes us.
If you are looking for a fully electric Toyota C-HR, you will find it quickly. There isn't one. That's quite striking. Toyota boasts that the new Toyota C-HR has been designed, developed and produced in Europe and is 'completely aimed at the European customer', but an EV is missing. While the EU wants all new cars to be electric in a number of years. Is that electric Toyota C-HR not coming? Yep, it will probably be called Toyota bZ3X. The bZ Compact SUV Concept study model is a precursor to this:
Back to the new Toyota C-HR. It is therefore not available as an EV, but with one of the following three powertrains:
The technology is already known from other models Toyota. You will also find both hybrid powertrains in the Toyota Corolla. And you will also find the 223 strong plug-in hybrid powertrain in the new one Toyota Prius.
It is striking that the hybrid pioneer with a plug is cheaper than the new Toyota C-HR. The Prius Plug-in Hybrid is available from 44,695 euros, while for the C-HR Plug-in Hybrid you have to pay at least 45,995 euros. In both cases this concerns the Dynamic version, but with the C-HR, for example, you get black polished 18-inch alloy wheels. The Prius has to make do with 17-inch aluminum models with a decorative lid. You also get steering wheel heating in the C-HR and not in the Prius (only from the Executive). The Prius is slightly more economical, in theory 0.5 l/100 km (1 in 200) compared to 1.0 l/100 km (1 in 100) for the C-HR.

Now that we have come to the versions: the new Toyota C-HR has no fewer than seven:
The last two versions are the most complete, including a panoramic glass roof. So if you want to choose a new Toyota C-HR, you can feel free to take a sabbatical, there is so much choice. We highlight two versions: the First Edition and the GR Sport Plus.
The first is based on the Dynamic, has an additional cost of 2,500 euros (from 42,995 euros) but, according to Toyota, offers an advantage of 1,000 euros. Standard features include a wireless charger for your smartphone, special LED prism projector headlights, a power tailgate, a 360-degree camera for extra easy parking and the Toyota Smart Connect multimedia system with 12.3-inch touchscreen. The Dynamic's screen has a diameter of 8 inches.
The GR Sport Plus is the sportiest Toyota C-HR. It is therefore not available as a 1.8 Hybrid, but only as a 2.0 High Power Hybrid and as an even stronger plug-in hybrid. For at least 48,895 euros, your motorsport heart will beat faster because of the sports seats, the leather-covered sports steering wheel (vegan, of course...) with GR Sport logo and the 19-inch alloy wheels. The exterior has black accents and the grille has a sporty mesh pattern. Furthermore, the exterior has been brightened up with side skirts and a bi-tone body paint with the roof in black.
There is also something called a bi-tone+ lacquer. Not only the roof, but also the rear of the body was sprayed black. The two simplest versions (Active and Dynamic) are not available as bi-tone or bi-tone+.
The new Toyota C-HR will appear in the showroom around the turn of the year. It remains to be seen when the fully electric bZ3X will come onto the market. Toyota previously said that it wants to bring six electric BZ models to the European market by 2026. In the meantime, the brand is working hard to further improve the range and charging speeds.
