A new "bZ SDN" development vehicle jointly developed by Toyota and China's major EV manufacturer "BYD" was witnessed in Shenzhen, China.

Toyota and BYD established a joint venture "BYD TOYOTA EV TECHNOLOGY Co., Ltd. (BTET)" in April 2020 to gather the know-how of the two companies for research and development of electric vehicles.

Almost the same design as the concept car?

The body of the development car is covered with a black camouflage mold, which can vaguely identify the shape of the body and the design of the headlights.

Although there is an unknown bulge on the hood, from the design of the 4-eye LED inside the headlights, the daytime running lights, and the bumper, it is inferred that the car may be a bZ SDN.

A taillight shape similar to bZ4X can be seen at the rear of the car, and something like a logo can be vaguely seen above the center of the light. Compared with the previous development car witnessed in March, the exposed area of the taillights is larger this time.

It is a pity that the wheels are completely covered, so the design cannot be discerned. Also, the shape of the side doors should be exactly the same.

bZ SDN specs last revealed

The body size is smaller than the Toyota "Crown" "Camry" and larger than the "Corolla". The analogy of Lexus is closer to "IS". The maximum speed is 160km/h. The maximum speed of electric vehicles is usually set lower than that of gasoline vehicles. For electric vehicles, 160km/h is quite enough.

In addition to the information in the table above, it is also recorded that the developer is BYD and the body color is white.

The second bullet of the bZ series is bZ SDN?

The second from the left is bZ SDN

It is speculated that the bZ SDN is the second bZ series model to enter the market following the bZ4X released in May this year.

The bZ series announced in December last year a total of five models, "bZ4X", "bZ SDN", "bZ SMALL CROSSOVER", "bZ COMPACT SUV" and "bZ LARGE SUV".

These five models are expected to be announced one after another by 2025.
