People have all kinds of reasons for not wanting to switch to an electric car. Not having your own driveway with a charging station is a frequently heard objection.
One in three Dutch people without a driveway at their house do not plan to drive electric in the future. This is evident from a study by Solar plan. The Zwolle energy company asked 2,000 Dutch people about their living situation and their plans regarding electric driving.
A private driveway with a charging station is almost sacred. Of current EV drivers, 8 out of 10 have their own driveway. And a third of Dutch people who do not have their own driveway do not plan to drive electric in the future. Of the people who in theory can charge on their own property, only 18.5 percent are not interested in a plug-in car.
It varies enormously per province whether people have their own driveway or not. For example, Drenthe (74.6 percent), Limburg (60.7) and Overijssel (57.5) are among the top three provinces with the most homes with a driveway. In South Holland (31.2), North Holland (32.5) and Utrecht (37.5) the fewest homeowners have access to a driveway.
A private driveway and associated charging station make charging your electric car a lot easier. Your own charging point is always available, the electricity is generally a lot cheaper and the technology is more reliable. This means you can be sure that you leave home every morning with a full battery, and that certainty is a must for many people.
Private leasing is an excellent way to switch to electric driving. All monthly costs are bundled into one amount, all you have to do is charge the car. A electric car private lease via Auto Review's private lease comparator.
