There is a lot of uncertainty about what will happen to road tax for electric cars. That makes people hesitant to order an EV, but Peugeot has come up with something about that. If road tax is introduced, Peugeot will pay the bill.
It is unclear what exactly will happen to road tax for EVs. The current plan is that people with an electric car will pay a quarter of the rate from 2025 and the full price from 2026. But what rate is this? Presumably that of petrol cars, but that is not yet 100 percent certain.
And if that is the case, can you deduct the kilos of the heavy battery pack? That's how it happened with the first hybrid cars; they received a correction of 125 kilos. In any case, clarity does not seem to be available for the time being with the elections in sight and the cabinet formation ahead.

Those who do not have the patience to wait for government plans will find certainty at the Peugeot dealer. Because Peugeot guarantees that you do not have to pay motor vehicle tax until 2028.
How does Peugeot do that, does it have a crystal ball? No, the brand estimates that the costs will be approximately 1,800 euros and will pay it out of its own pocket to get you to take out a private lease contract for the Peugeot e-208 in e-Style version. Should the motor vehicle tax apply during the term of your contract (48 months), then Peugeot will pay this for you. Or actually, the costs are not passed on and you continue to pay the same monthly amount.
With the e-208 you also benefit from SEPP subsidy. This also applies to private leasing. The amount of 2,950 euros will be spread over 4 years. This means that you receive 61.46 euros in your bank account every month. In the case of the Peugeot e-208 e-Style, you pay 437.54 euros per month.
Financial security is nice, but the Peugeot e-208 e-Style also has a disadvantage: with 136 hp and 50 kWh, it still has the 'old' technology. We would take a version with the larger battery and the more powerful electric motor. On the other hand, the e-Style is good at what it does:
