What is the secret of the Polestar 2, the electric car of which the 10,000th copy was recently delivered to the Netherlands? We put on our Swedish detective hats and go to investigate.
Swedish detective hat? Polestar is Chinese, right? The fact that one Polestar associates with Sweden is undoubtedly one of the reasons why the new car brand is so popular. For many people, Polestar is simply a brother of Volvo and therefore it is familiar. You can also simply go to the Volvo dealer for maintenance on the car.
Moreover, Polestar, like Volvo, is a likeable brand. Since the first Polestar 2 rolled off the production line in 2020, the environmental impact of the production process has been reduced. So if you buy a Polestar 2 today, it will emit 3 tons less CO2 during its production. A decrease of 12 percent. That automatically makes you 'greener' than your neighbor who wears his goat's wool socks inside out the second day.
Well insured on the road
Choose the coverage that suits your (electric) car with Interpolis Car Insurance. Standard €0 deductible and free choice of repairs.
But a good brand image does not always equal a blockbuster, just look Lightyear. The car itself must also perform. The Polestar 2 does that: it is a good, nice and desirable car. It is more beautiful than its major competitors, the Tesla Model 3 and Model Y. Moreover, it has a familiar dashboard with logical menus.
The range of the Polestar 2 was never a point of discussion. When it was introduced, it was a comfortable 500 kilometers. After technical updates, the current Polestar 2 will take you further than ever. The range of no less than 654 kilometers is above average in its class.

Speaking of technical updates. The Polestar 2 went from front-wheel drive to rear-wheel drive. Not only does it drive sportier, such major changes ensure that the Polestar 2 is constantly in the (car) news. Moreover, as a customer you get the nice feeling that Polestar's designers are on top of technological developments. They managed to increase the maximum charging capacity from 155 to 205 kW.
The Dutch success of the Polestar 2 is extra impressive when you consider that the brand does not stunt with prices. While other car brands are following Tesla with price reductions of thousands of euros, often in an attempt to dip below the subsidy limit of 45,000 euros, the cheapest Polestar 2 still costs a hefty 51,200 euros. And you cannot actually avoid purchasing an option package of 3,000 euros or more for an essential system such as adaptive cruise control.
These significant amounts confirm the gut feeling that (business) drivers who want a Polestar 2 really want a Polestar 2. In their view, the combination of design, sportiness, technology and brand image makes it the ideal EV.
