The Hyundai Ioniq 5 is one of the best electric cars on the market, along with its brother from another mother: the Kia EV6. A GT version of the latter will soon be on the market. It is beastly powerful (especially for a Kia), with 585 hp and 740 Nm from two electric motors. That means you have to tighten your neck muscles to the max at the traffic light, because the instant acceleration is rock hard, with a 0-100 time of just 3.5 seconds. The Kia EV6 GT also crushes the fast Germans of Audi, BMW and Mercedes, who cannot match the Korean crossover with a limited top of 250 km/h. After all, on a free autobahn it can easily reach 260 km/h.
We assume that the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N is based on the Kia EV6 GT. The prototype in these photos has bigger brakes and, according to the photographer, a significantly stiffer chassis. In terms of power, the Ioniq 5 lags slightly behind the EV6. That ratio has simply been chosen within the Hyundai group, which also includes Kia. That means that the Ioniq 5 N will be around 580 hp. The new model moves extremely quickly, both at the traffic light (our poor stomach) and at the charging station, where it benefits from 800 Volt technology. Like the other versions of the Ioniq 5, it can charge with up to 225 kW. The EV6 again outclasses it, with fast charging up to 240 kW.
